About Us

Sharing the Love and Compassion of Jesus Through Healthcare

Koutiala Women's and Children's Hospital exists to provide the best medical, obstetrical, and surgical care possible in one of the poorest regions of the poorest countries in the world. However, our goal is not just limited to alleviate physical and temporal suffering, but to seek eternal spiritual healing for every patient that we treat as well as their family members. Therefore, we strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus by doing all with His love and compassion.

Our Story

The idea for the Koutiala Women's and Children's Hospital was birthed in 2000 when several prominent local women died from obstetrical complications, including the lack of rapid access to a cesarean section. The construction started in 2003 and the maternity was opened in 2006 under the direction of CPAM (Centre Protestante pour l'Assistance Médical au Mali) in partnership with the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA). A few years later, the pediatrics department was opened and since then the hospital has grown exponentially to become a tertiary referral center while remaining true to its original vision of caring for the most vulnerable, namely women and children.

Today, the hospital has 181 beds, performs over 3000 deliveries per year, admits over 600 patients per month, performs over 200 surgeries per month, and employs nearly 200 people. Directed by God's sovereignty and enabled by His grace, the Koutiala Women's and Children's Hospital is having a great impact on the physical and spiritual needs in Mali.
